Interview with TiM, tour entertainer, aka Jörg-Tim Wilhelm, a German musician and actor who is best known as the presenter of Pumuckl-TV
TiM, you’ve spent a lot of time with children on the latest MobileKids Tour. What really gets them going?
The music – singing along, clapping, dancing, jumping around, having fun together. The games are also a great way to reach kids with a migrant background.
And what really makes their eyes light up?
(laughs) Our film quiz! That stirs up their competitive spirit and sense of being part of a team. And there are also two real-life Nimbols – Neema, who’s really intelligent, and the clumsy Urp – who join in the games and whose pictures are on the T-shirts the kids wear. The kids really get into that! Afterward, they get to take the T-shirts home as a souvenir of the tour.
What has impressed you most about the tour?
I’m continually amazed by just how open and direct the kids are. And some of the letters we get after a tour stop are really funny. For example, we get invited to go and eat ice cream with them. One kid wrote: “My teacher really likes you – but that’s our secret, okay?” That tells me that I’m accepted by the kids.
